What if you rebuilt accounting for AI?
Today, we’re joined by Parker Gilbert, co-founder and CEO of Numeric, an AI accounting platform backed by IVP, Founders Fund, and Menlo Ventures.
Parker kept watching finance teams ask questions their accounting systems couldn’t answer, like how revenue changed by customer, by product, or by sales rep. The journal entry model throws that context away, and AI can’t automate what it can’t see. So Numeric went back to the foundation and built accounting from what the business actually did, with every number on the balance sheet tracing back to the event that created it.
Parker and Kaz Tamai cover why adding AI on top of today’s general ledger hits a wall, where AI belongs in accounting and where it doesn’t, the rise of the finance engineer, and advice for founders building something lasting while AI moves this fast.
