Where we usually start

Onboarding, almost every time. It's where a product that grew quickly shows its seams: steps that made sense for the first hundred users, features added without a home, a first session that never gets people to the thing the product is good at. We look at where people drop off and why, talk to some of them, and redesign the path to their first real result.

From there it's the core flows and the structure under them. A lot of our clients sell technical products to developers, security teams or finance teams. For those buyers, being easy to understand is an advantage over competitors, and it's mostly a structure problem, not a visual one.

We work to your roadmap. If your team ships every two weeks, so do we.

When the interface has outgrown the product

Growth is hard on consistency. Five teams ship features five slightly different ways, and the interface ends up looking younger than the company selling it. Every team made a reasonable call for its own feature, and nobody owns the whole.

Redesigning a few screens won't fix that. A system will: shared components, clear rules for when to use them, and a team that owns it after we leave. We usually start with an audit of what to keep, what to rebuild and what to retire, then roll the system out without stopping feature work. Our design engineers build the components in code with yours, so the system lives in the product and not only in Figma.

AI makes this matter more. Shipping screens has never been cheaper. Making them add up to a product people trust still takes judgment.

What this looks like in practice

Robust Intelligence builds security for AI models. We worked on its brand and product from the earliest days through Cisco's acquisition in 2024, reported at about $400M. Our engineers were embedded with their team the whole time, so what we designed got built the way it was designed. Along the way the company raised a $30M Series B in December 2021 from Tiger Global and Sequoia.

“Working with Zypsy is a delight. They continuously deliver incredible results at startup pace. The Zypsy team understands our company and products at a fundamental level. We can’t imagine a better partner on this journey.”

Yaron Singer, CEO, Robust Intelligence

‍

Numeric automates accounting for finance teams. We designed the product from 2022 to 2025, starting before its $28M Series A, and we believed in it enough to invest. Numeric has since raised a $51M Series B.

Solo.io makes API gateways and service mesh software, and its product is dense: dashboards, traffic data, a lot of configuration. We audited the product, built a consistent design system and still work on its data visualization and monitoring views.

We rebuilt the brand at the same time, so the product and the website now read as the same company. The work has carried on as Solo.io moved into AI connectivity with agentgateway, now a Linux Foundation project.

“Seeing everything come to life was something special. Can’t thank the whole Zypsy team enough.”

Matt Deutsch, Vice President of Sales, Solo.io

‍

We've also designed product for Nash, which runs last-mile delivery across 500+ providers, through its Series A; ModernFi, a deposit network for banks, starting before its $18.7M Series A; and Cortex, a developer portal, through its move from startup to enterprise and its Series B and C.

Frequently Asked Questions

What stage should we be at to hire a UI/UX agency?

Past product-market fit, at any funding stage. Before that you're still finding out what the product is, and you'll learn more talking to users yourself.

Where does a UI/UX agency usually start?

Onboarding, almost every time. It is where a fast-growing product shows its seams, so we look at where people drop off and why, then redesign the path to their first real result.

Will you replace our design team?

No. We set up the system and help with the hard calls, then your designers and engineers own it.

Do you build design systems in code?

Yes. Our design engineers work with yours to build the components, not just hand over files.

How do engagements work?

A sprint for one defined problem, like onboarding, or a retainer for ongoing product work. It's scoped to the work and set as one price for the sprint. We take one new client a month. Tell us what you're working on.
